Decision Modeling has recently been added to the Business Analyst Body of Knowledge® Guide v3 while a new standard, the Decision Model and Notation standard, has also been released. I attended bpmNEXT a little while ago and gave a demonstration of Decision Modeling for Simpler, Smarter, More Agile Processes. This was a live demonstration of DecisionsFirst Modeler, our collaborative cloud-based environment for decision modeling and showed how the Decision Model and Notation standard works. In addition, I showed how teams can collaborate on these models, how they can link to implementations like business rules, manage automation choices and ensure traceability. Lisa Kart, Roy Schulte and Teresa Jones of Gartner recently published Find the Best Approach to Decision Management. It’s a great piece and if you are a Gartner subscriber you should definitely read it and share it around your organization. Even if you are not you should seriously consider getting it from Gartner as it makes a solid case for Decision Management. Well it’s official – the Object Management Group’s Board of Directors has voted to publish the Decision Model and Notation (DMN) specification. You can see the press release here. Decision Management Solutions is excited to be a submitter for this new standard. As I say in the press release:
